Lots of excuses, lots of disappointments and heartbreaks, some hope and again uncertainty , some expectations unmet, but a serious will to unearth the buried hobbies and passions. They work like our cooking range currently. Small flame underneath, unseen but keeps the gas going.
So I started reading a lot. mostly non fiction, took up Spanish while revising French (a trapesing's art, finishing daily goal remembering to do the work but forming a proper sentence in Spanish and rethinking in French is totallyyum (I know why I am using these words) euphoric and ofcourse, recently ordering a fashion croquies book and putting my "blasted" imagination on it, using the 13-14 year old pencils. the sharpened edges may have lost their color but I am sure a sharpener will do the trick.
So meanwhile its midnight at 5.00 PM and the potato fry is sizzling in groundnut fat (oil maybe? too many blog reading royally disorients the mind big time, so much that word creates the story and digression just goes on and on) and Ryan is blasting his mother and father on Ryan's toy review on youtube which a certain pilla is watching upside down on carpet, gives my mind a moment of fun and peace and meeting my blog is just like meeting an old pal. you don't remember why you didn't keep in touch but when you meet up, you start just where you have left.
A month back my better (?) half got added to the Netflix subscription of my brotherin law ( technically he is my brother as he had done all brother duties at the wedding) and it opened a treasure for me, only I didn't know it then, so fed up I was of the sling tv or idiot box in general. And since aai was around, it was yupp tv . We started watching david chang's ugly delicious when it was lunch but with accented english which even I found difficult, aai had zero interest. When aai left and with no one to hear my blabber I moved to tv to have some sound at home. Somehow the soaps that I watched before had lost their limited interest and were better mostly as highlights. I preferred cellphone instead with few scenes from movies. Then one fine day (read friday as that is the only day when I wondered what to do after daily chores. Other days I had lots to prep up next day). I still remember that I searched for the only Jane Austen classic but recent most adaptation of pride and prejudice and Emma and not finding any results. I then saw my brother's list and finished watching ugly delicious mostly in ff mode. This gave me another list which had michael pollan cooked (My favourite) I came across some scenes of north and south when I was reading about classics and i remembered that I had seen it as residue of results for pride and prejudice. I started with last part, then 3rd and so on. Meanwhile I saw hazed complete movie on YouTube with minimized light at night and i was so happy that I decided to watch it next day. Needless to say, I saw it 4 times, before really losing interest (no one can compare Aiiya). Next I saw something like midnight kitchen : tokoyo stories and I remembered the blogger Namiko Chen mentioning it in her blog 'just one cookbook'. I absolutely loved the finite series (atleast on netflix) and had to restrain my self to watch two episodes a day. The characters and settings were same but each episode had different story and in the end mostly the dish around which it is concentrated on. Now like anyone who watches Netflix "because you watched..." I came across an unassuming "samurai gourmet " both the series are Japanese, creative and so rich, which actually need a separate post.
A chat with a lovely friendly uber driver led me to an app which is my 6 month friend in learning spanish and revising french.
I had ordered a croquie book since a long time but had limited motivation to do anything as I couldn't find my old pencils and new ones couldn't be spared money from my miserly hands. The book saw me and I saw the book every day. The book mocking me for my once in the blue moon spur of the moment purshase . Then one day in typical libran sudden burst of energy made me remember and search for them before inertia took over me and i kept both of them together. Days passed and Saturday afternoon gave me much needed quiet and respite to start and voila my designs started.
Now I need to jumpstart my motivation for recording my personal food stories which I would love to revisit just like you blog for years to come.
Can you believe it blogie that you are 12 years old.
