Eyuu..as we get older.. Do we want to revisit past??? Me yes.. Sometimes

As I was making my pilla go off to sleep amid of elephant thumping on the wooden ceiling of the heavyweight champions upstairs.. I thought and now a days think a lot of small small incidents of past
Of the almost daily "kulphiyo" chants of kulfi vendor late in the silent night. That time even 10-10.30 pm was also silent..
A shop closing and locking and person going home. Of pretty rakhis.. Of Barbie dresses at 21 INR..of the "sorat" at the old lady's shack, who was called murgiwali as she had hen selling business as well. Choosing chooran and tasting it bit by bit. Of the person who used to sit near municipal school with his mobile dirty green box that had wares of the world. The colored saunf and the one with red and green sugar beads.. The chewy Chikki and non eatables like whistles and the "photo" which was like a thick glass square with 4 photos on one side and 4 on other. Pictures of train and bus and lion. The old bhaiya who used to carry a glass box of pink cotton candy the another one who used to carry different chikkis and ale pak or ginger toffee in pink. The jaw breaking chaklis at udupi store. The cool sugarcane juice at sugarcane vendor that got over just a bit too soon. The jali fryums that aai used to get rarely or the potato chips which she used to make home. The shivsena wala's batatavada the different candies including aa sweets kaju vadi.. Tapioca wafers and samosa near my school. Treats were rare and that's what made them just so unreal.. This seems to be my list but in my mind it's a cute kaleidoscope of sepia images some of them forgotten.. Some of them still there..I won't and I cannot say that I want to experience that again but yes I have to note them down before my aging brain loses them ;)

While we are at it.. Let the heart beat

"tankapur ki rani.. Badlapur..what do you want to see..." My almost irritated better (?) half asked me. It was Friday night and he was in mood for a movie. My better (?) held can be indiscriminate in terms of movie watching. He watches gems and duds with equal ease. I am exact opposites. Give me a good book and I am happy. Movies I am choosy or we can say perpetually disinterested. I like hrishikesh mukherjee's comedies. Some Marathi movies (read two.. Mumbai Pune Mumbai and gupchupgupchup). Some loners like chasme badoor and Bombay to goa and few new ones like queen and zindagi milegi na dobara. Otherwise I prefer a book ( read 1.5.. That's my 3 hour continuous speed) or writing ( only you dear blog) or cooking ( once mandatory but now more pleasurable activity).. Again digressing. Digress your name is ash. Anyways.."dial dhadakne do..want to see it" my better (?) half asked almost expecting a no. " ok.." Was all I said, not making him further tear his hair.. The pace at which he tears his hear when I am around will make him bald definitely soon. The story was not much but more like a perfect to look at but a dysfunctional family of four where parents still take decisions for their grown up children. I found it just so true and close to heart. The ending predictable and acceptable but not much melodrama..for which I am eternally grateful to the director. Incidentally I have started to like Zoya akhtar's movies. The one shot effect in the song " Galla goodiyan". Priyanka chopra's subtle but strong character and Rahul bose's typical husband. Ranveer Singh' confused son and anushka sharma's opposite strong and determined lady whom he gets attracted and eventually falls in love with. Then of course there is nail kapoor's autocratic father and shefali shah's nice but insensitive mother. These are all main or almost main characters. The other not so main but important characters where beautifully crafted and each showed up. I liked it.. I don't mind another rerun ;)
