Post in middle of lunch

Netflix has become a real welcome gift from my BIL. So when I finish all work required to be done, I sit in front of it and sometimes surf, sometimes see the short seriala (ok, this word is invented by yours truly. If small novel becomes novella, cant a short daily soap become seriala or maybe daily sopa....yes I agree my humor sucks most of the times).

Just now in process of eating my lunch and seeing a third rerun of my one of the favorites, I thought of writing a shorty on it.

I had heard about midnight diner Tokyo stories from a blog (just one cookbook) that I read intermittently (nope, experimentation is NOT my forte so I don't cook). so once I finished this seriala (I liked this one a lot), I saw another one in "because you watched...". It was called "samurai gourmet". Unlike its predecessor, which was a bit on serious lines, this one was plain humor. Each episode spanned for 20 minutes. The season having only 12 episodes. The acting lovely, limited dialogues but each like a dart hitting bulls eye. The good videography/photography is so delectable, that you can taste the miso soup (my favorite anyways). Fish getting fried, vegetables getting stir-fried. No faces, just food getting prepared. The music given is a preppy jazz or sometimes pleasant piano. Infact the bad food (second episode, the description and the long seaweed in ramen) is pictured well. and music is given a bit of suspense, buzzing bee like. The differences are so visual, that you imagine being there and seeing.

The main character "Takeshi Kasumi", Japanese comedian Naoto Takenaka has acted so natural and so simple , right from dialogue delivery . Mirth seeps from him , and right from his distinct walking style, to absolute bliss expression when food hits right on the point, when he tastes good, that evokes memory or just gives a real soulful pleasure. Its worth seeing. the other two main characters Tetsuji Tamayama as Samurai and Honami Suzuki as Shijuka his wife, act perfect even with their limited screen time. Seeing this seriala after a long break was surely a treat all over again.
