I wondered how did my better (?) half get the idea of Italian Khana..complete dhartiputra.. He always preferred dal bhat bhujia to lasagna and alfredo..( he prefers Mexican to bland Italian anytime )
However a colleague of his suggested a restaurant which also customized their dishes to a vegetarian and ovovegetarian..
I was still skeptical however.. Especially with our chota bhoot.. When he wails.. We are too scared to swallow and just run away as soon as possible to the safe haven of home.. But we decided to give it a try.. We preferred to decide on the menu and order ASAP ..so we went..
We ordered a "sampler" which had fried zucchini and mozerella..rest all including stuffed mushrooms (in which I had my eyes set) was non vegetarian with mushroom stuffed with clam meat.
Zucchini was surprisingly crispy and melt in mouth from inside..while mozerella triangles were crispy on outside and tasteless chewy on inside ( guess mozerella was not seasoned) this was served with generous helping of arrabiata sauce which was lovely flavorful company to fried zucchini coins and mozerella triangles.. We then proceeded to eggplant parmesan.. Which was served with generous salad..the salad had fresh lettuce and tomatoes and onions and dotted with black manzilla olives. It was crisp, fresh and filling. Next came the king.. Aka eggplant parmesan.. Lovely crisp well seasoned eggplant rounds dotted with mozerella shavings and served with seasoned spaghetti cooked "al dente" to perfection with arrabiata sauce (again).. Better half (?)dear liked eggplant the best (he is partial to eggplants and fried stuff) and managed to eat his spaghetti too .. Then came one of good but not that required dish of white bean hummus with bread toasts which we doggy bagged as a snack.. ..but which we had already sampled n both of us agreed was good.. As was the fresh warm bread we had as complimentary and the sweet wine sampled..
The chota bhoot was surprisingly tranquil maybe coz I had already fed him his dinner or he had his sippy cup for diversion ..
After experience of PF Chang in same campus.. Olive Garden was definitely a lovely and pleasant surprise.. Hope to visit it again soon.. This time for tiramisu??
